KOBAYASHI Masahiko

Masahiko Kobayashi is a photographer who seeks to capture the “invisible presence” through photography.

He seeks to capture the “invisible presence” through photography, which refers to emotions that have not been able to acquire the contours of information such as text and images, as well as fragments of memories and thoughts that have not been archived. Working as a valuable human resource in today’s society requires efficient and reproducible work performance. In the field of communication, vague, redundant, and unorganized thoughts are considered incomprehensible, and their existence is treated as something that has passed away.

What we receive in daily information transmission is what has been summarized and appropriately worded, and we cannot see the incomprehensible things that should have been on the periphery of the information. He believes that such things are feelings that should not be discarded in life, and that they should be confronted.

In recent years, he has been working with a slide projector and acrylic plates to create a space in which viewers can see invisible images by groping around.

The world we see is fragmented, and by knowing what exists outside of it, we may acquire a way to perceive things that are currently unobservable. He aims to make his works an opportunity to do so.
